We held our first SERTA meeting in September 2006 and thought we might do something different for our 10th anniversary.
We are considering holding a weekend event. We have found a hotel in Bournemouth which is available for the weekend of 16 to 18 September 2016 and has its own ballroom. (Unfortunately they were booked for our normal weekend at the end of the month.) The initial plan is to have dances on the Friday and Saturday evenings and classes from Pat Houghton, but also hope to have talks and other contributions from those attending, rather like the Kaleidoscope meeting held in Switzerland in 2009 (see http://scdkaleidoscope1.strathspey.org/ for details).
If we get enough people coming, the cost would probably be around £225 per person to include dinner, bed and breakfast from Friday evening until Sunday morning. Sunday lunch would be available at £10.95 or dinner, bed and breakfast for Sunday night at £35 for those who wanted to stay on. Details of the hotel can be found at www.hotelpiccadilly.co.uk.
We need to confirm to the hotel by the end of this week (May 1) whether we will go ahead with these plans and so I should be grateful if you would let me know whether you would be interested by this Thursday, 30 April. This will not be a formal commitment, although we will certainly need definite numbers much earlier than is usual for SERTA.
